You had to push really hard on the door of the room to get it to open. Once in the room you had to push really hard on the door to close it. The city was under a boil order. There was no bottle water provided to the rooms. If you wanted to brush your teeth you had to purchase water. The exit door at the end of c the hall doesn't lock. Anyone could just walk in without using a key card.

It says pet friendly but when I arrived, I was told there was no pet rooms available. There was hardly anyone there. After a lengthy phone call I couldn’t understand, they agreed to rent me a room for another $35.. felt like a scam. I would have went somewhere else but was too tired.

The hotel was nice and clean. The room however, i told the service desk the maids were not cleaning correctly. There was an empty soda bottle under the night table along with months of dust and another piece of trash. There was something on a towel the left in the room. I used to clean for a company and this would have been unacceptable

My stay at the Best Western in Emporia, KS was a mixed experience. After traveling 8 1/2 hours to get there, I was held up for 40 minutes at the front desk because they didn't want to honor the price that was confirmed through Hotels.com. And, apparently I was not the first according to the front desk staff. Evidently, the hotel management is wanting people to book directly with them and not go through 3rd parties so that they earn more money. As part of their covert war, they made me suffer through a long wait and conversations with Hotels.com where they mentioned that the "virtual card" (something they receive from Hotels.com) would not work. I suspect this is something the hotel programmed or did on their end to not accept the lower negotiated rate. I eventually got in after paying the hotel directly (not through Hotels.com) with a different credit card and a slightly higher rate. I actually had a separate reservation at the same hotel for the following two nights and had no problem re-checking in with my hotels.com reservation. Other than that, the hotel room and breakfast were decent and we enjoyed spending time at the pool with our grand kids. And the location is in close walking distance to various restaurants and retail stores. Would have been a good stay except for the torture they needlessly put me through the first night.

I like the location off in the back was nice. My room was a single kind for two people and I only had one pillow. My room key didn’t work numerous of times. So I kept having to go back downstairs. Outside of that it was a good stay.
