This was our favorite stay. It is a beautiful property with a lot to do on the grounds. It is very easy to get to town by accessing the public transport. The front desk personnel were very helpful with arranging transportation and helping us get around Edinburgh.

This place has unfortunately seen better times. The upkeep is questionable at best and the staff are inattentive and seem to interpret their work as a job instead of a profession. As a guest you are literally never greeted and need to ask for everything like getting coffee at breakfast or ordering something to eat. Really disappointed and will not be back until under capable management.

We booked 2 “superior” rooms for the Dalmahoy, since we needed a hotel near EDI. What a mistake — NOT GOOD FOR FAMILIES! This hotel is a maze, not great if you are towing luggage and kids or a stroller; we had to take two elevators and navigate the weirdest path to our rooms. The rooms we were given were soooo hot, with no AC and only a mechanical fan for cooling. Even opening the window (cool rainy air outside) did not help. Pool facilities are closed to children in the evening. The “family friendly” restaurant was overly hot with the slowest service imaginable. The hotel staff offered no help and were borderline rude. Nothing like any of the other hotels we stayed at in Scotland… very disappointing for a hotel that advertises itself as family friendly!!!

Nicely maintained older property with an interesting history. We parked our car and just took the bus into town, which was easy and cheap. Good food, cozy bar. The shower could have used a little extra cleaning. Kids liked the pool.

This is a beautiful property that has the feeling of a historic manor. The staff are great. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The overall property needs to be updated a little, and the lack of air conditioning may be an issue if you come in the hotter months.
