Staff are very friendly, and nothing seemed to be a problem! Very accommodating. The food they have to offer was lovely, and reasonably priced! And the room was comfortable.
This was the perfect break to recuperate from major surgery and before starting chemotherapy. The seaview from my room was outstanding with views of the castle, sandstone rock formations and a tidal pool where brave women swam. There were equally amazing views from the public lounge and restaurant. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast choice was excellent with healthy options as well as full cooked Scottish breakfast.
Dunbar is a charming town with a working harbour, small independent shops and cafés and 2 small museums. The John Muir museum is highly recommended which covers the life of John Muir from his childhood in Dunbar to moving to the USA and being instrumental in setting up National Parks.
There are lovely cliff and beach walks along the John Muir Way which also passes through interesting geological areas.
The only disappointment was despite all the lobsters being caught, no local restaurant/stalls served lobster!
A lovely location and beautiful views from my room. Amazing breakfast.
Full Scottish was plentiful.
Staff were lovely and friendly.
My room was beautiful with a 4 poster bed.
Really
I lovely hotel. Very nice staff. My room was lovely and had graet views of the coast. the Scottish breakfast was lovely and plentyful. Very good location for long coastal walks.
We attended a wedding close to the hotel which commenced at 13.30. As booking in commenced at 15.00 we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel reception. After the wedding we got back to the hotel at 23.00. Our luggage was safely left in our rooms. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The large beds were very comfortable and bed linen spotless. The rooms comfortably warm. We all had a good night’s sleep. In the morning we were amazed when opening the curtains the view of the Firth of Forth over to Fife was spectacular. It helped that it was a pleasant sunny morning.
Breakfast in the ground floor restaurant was wholesome and tasty. We all had the full Scottish breakfast - good choice - it was excellent.
Booking in and signing out was simple and effortless.
Would most certainly recommend this small hotel to everyone.
Had booked junior suite with hot tub for 1 night. The room was warm and welcoming and the hot tub was a really nice addition. I found the room to be really small for being a junior suite. Since getting home and looking on the website it seems that we didn’t get the junior suite and looks to have been given the double room with hot tub. I wish I had looked at my booking and the rooms shown online at the time as there is a price difference between the rooms so we had paid the price of a junior suite as that’s what our booking says and given a different room.
We had booked dinner within the restaurant at 6 but decided we wanted earlier. The gentleman on reception was lovely and changed it for us . The restaurant is in the conservatory area which we found very cold. My partner actually went back to the room to get his jumper. Another lady at a different table mentioned to the staff that it was rather cold and he switched on a portable heater that was next to her.
Food was lovely though. We decided not to have breakfast in the morning so can’t comment on the breakfast.
Seems to be very minimal staff - we only saw the one gentleman and he seemed to be working the reception, bar and restaurant himself . Lovely man though.
The views are beautiful - would we stay again ? Possibly but wouldn’t pay £250.80 for a small double room with a hot tub.
Loved our room with a sea view. Bed was a really comfortable superking. Nice having seats in the room. Breakfast was very good, hot and freshly cooked. Plenty of choice. Staff were all very friendly and willing to help.
We stayed in one of the suites and it was just fantastic. The bed was so comfy, I had the best sleep in years and as for the views well stunning is underselling. The food was great and all the staff were very friendly. I will definitely stay here again. The only thing that is slightly negative is that the dining area is small and others can here your conversation but they have made the most of the limited space that they have. We honestly loved our stay.
