We had a beautiful view of the castle from our window. We overlooked Grassmarket which was wonderful for people watching. Grey Friars Cathedral and “The Read Diagon Alley” were both a few quick steps away. I couldn’t have asked for a better location. We forgot a backpack in the room containing our truck key and the staff worked with me to get it back to us in Texas. 10 out of 10.

I had high expectations for this hotel given its rather steep price, but unfortunately, my stay was far from comfortable. The biggest issue was the sleep quality. To put it simply, it was terrible. The pillows were extremely uncomfortable and the comforter was just as bad. On top of that, the bathroom fan didn’t work, which made the room feel stuffy and incredibly humid. The “castle view” that was advertised was incredibly misleading. We specifically booked this room expecting to be on a higher floor for a proper view, but instead, we were placed on the first floor, where the view was almost nonexistent. The windows were broken and didn’t open properly. For a hotel in this price range, I would expect much better. I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to others looking for a restful night’s sleep. We paid a premium for the castle view and it was lack lustre at best.

Staff were wonderful! Extremely courteous and helpful, very professional. Their dedication to making the stay a positive one really elevated the experience. Room (5th floor) was a great size, clean, very comfortable. Had everything you might require for a stay in the room and everything was good quality. We had one meal in the restaurant and it was great. Food was delicious and service was quick, efficient and attentive. Really impressed. Would absolutely stay again.

While the property was lovely, I didn’t appreciate the 22:30hrs knock at the door to check our room for ‘smoke/smoking’ due to the insensitive people opposite us obviously smoking in their room.

I cannot fault this property at all. We went as a family of four. From check in to check out, everything was flawless. Our family room with a view over the castle was very clean and comfortable and so was the bathroom. We had drinks and dinner at the restaurant one evening and Martin was very attentive. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Edinburgh.

I absolutely loved this place. My family and I were here for 1 night and loved the property. It's very clean and comfortable. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The Apex hotel was very convenient to the Royal mile and the tourist hotspots and also within walking distance to Princess street. Also plenty of cafes and restaurants in and around the Grassmarket. The hotel has its own carpark which was a great bonus. We found the staff very pleasant in all areas, especially reception as we found them very welcoming and helpful.
