Grandma’s Marathon at Motel 6

The helpfulness of the staff was the real highlight of staying at this hotel. The room was adequate. The quality of the bed was not great, but not uncomfortable. The amenities were also adequate. Once again, the standout was the enthusiasm and helpfulness of the Front desk staff. They were very accommodating to all of the runners that came to participate in grandma‘s marathon.

Good for what it is- A no frills hotel with supposed “renovations.” A shower curtain that won't stay closed, pipes that whistle like a tea kettle, outlets painted over, cracked sink, and the always fun cigarette-burned sheets. But the front desk was super nice and maids did a good job. The diner next door is excellent.

I don't know who’s leaving those glowing reviews on Expedia, but the ones on Google Maps are much more realistic. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in for $160 a night! Let me start with the positives: the owners clearly made an effort — the room was renovated and had new furniture. But that doesn’t hide the other major issues! People smoke in the hotel, and you can definitely smell it. As a non-smoker, these were the two worst nights I’ve ever experienced. The toilet has a strong smell of cigarettes through the vent. And what can you say about the cigarette smell, when it’s the staff themselves smoking right under your window — while your air conditioner is running! I paid $160 for one night for that!!! The walls are paper-thin — you hear everything from the neighboring rooms. There are gaps in the door over an inch wide, so you hear all the hallway noise and smell cigarette smoke from other rooms — it feels like it’s all happening inside your own room. On the second night, I even found a cockroach in the bathroom! This hotel is worth $50 at most and deserves a 3-star rating. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have absolutely no other option. I’m sure you can find a much better place to stay if you look a bit harder. I’m never coming back here. My room was 213
