Overall a successful stay. Found it odd that, although I knew we couldn’t get into our unit until after 4 p.m., we couldn’t even use the keypad to get into the lobby before then. We were only a few minutes early but still had to stand on the sidewalk in downtown Detroit and wait along with other visitors. There was also no staff around, so thankfully we figured stuff out on our own. We’d gotten a notice a few days before our stay that one of the elevators was broken down, so I was prepared for that, but the one that did work was still super slow. But once we actually got to the apartment, it was clean, spacious, and we had a beautiful view. I would stay here again having a better idea of what to expect for staying in an apartment-style area rather than a hotel.

er apartment building in downtown is becoming a hotel with Marriott. Keyless entry to front door & apartment door (a passcode is sent by email a couple days ahead). As you enter, there are Staff at front desk. Elevator. Front door entry pad doesn’t always work well, but everything else went smoothly. Nice kitchen and bathroom. Nice view out to Michigan Ave from our 8th floor apartment. Parking across street costs $30 overnight — a $5 discount for Sounder folks. It was a good place for 4 adults, 2 couples since each got a room. Had our breakfast there with our coffee and food — they have utensils & all appliances. Recommend.

DO NOT RECOMMEND Property was dirty - floors unclean in the apartment socks turned black - blinds damaged - broken glassware in the cupboards. Location was good. Despite paying in full via Expedia Sonder debited twice the fee supposedly for incidentals - one debited day of check-in once at day of check-out. This is unacceptable and is unauthorised use of my credit card. Will never stay at a Sonder again and would NOT recommend.

Overall it was very comfortable. A few small things need to be fixed, for example the toilet paper and towel holders in the bathroom were loose and coming out of the walls (they were installed without the required set screws). And when the bedroom door was closed the whole place shook (because it needs a little felt thing so it doesn't hit wood directly on metal). But suite was large and had everything.

Sonder is in a great location. Very central and easily accessible. My family and I (4 of us) were able to walk to nearby places very easily. It is very disappointing that there is no onsite parking. However, we used “Spot Hero” and landed a very nice and cheap garage where we left our SUV and had no problems. It was a quick 8 minute walk to Sonder. Once we got there we realized I never got an email with the check-in instructions so I tried to speak to the virtual agent and could not get responses or ahold of anyone. Outside of the doors there is a keypad with a phone number that you can call to be let in the building. I called that number (no one answered) but a gentleman came to the door and checked us in at the front desk. Once inside, it smelled strongly of bleach and other cleaning products. Everything was nice and tidy and the view was spectacular to Michigan ave. The reason I’m not giving it a higher review is because the apartment itself was full of stained and scratched walls, the bed sheets and duvet covers were stained and had hair on them. One of our bath towels was also stained. I think the unit could use a paint job and a change of bedding.
