The staff were great, all the way from the concierge, breakfast crew to the cleaning group. They were friendly, helpful, and diverse. The property has old facilities, which is understable given the hotel's age. The location was great as it was in Downtown Des Moines and had many great walkable options. The parking filled up quickly but there was a parking facility by the city in front of the hotel that was fairly accessible and reasonably priced (max of $10 a day).

The hotel reception area was very nice. When we got to our room initially looked well done. We had 2 water glasses for 4 people, 1 of which had many fingerprints and we chose not to use glass. 2 late to get replacements. The curtains did not close properly so lots of light in the morning. Construction right under our windows. I need darkness to sleep. On the other hand breakfast was great..
