The Des Lux was DELUX!

This place is AMAZING! The decor and overall vibe of “brooding romantic” is done perfectly. The staff was amazing on every shift, the complimentary breakfast has one the best spreads I’ve ever seen, the onsite bar was lively most nights with good drinks, an experienced, friendly bartender and useful hours. The hotel was generally well booked and I rarely heard another guest, the rooms were unique and as nice as the rest of hotel was. Only downsides would be the parking situation which, is most conveniently, found across the street in the parking structure at $10/24hrs max, $1/hr and the tub/shower could use updating, at least in the room I was in. Put in a nice walk in shower with a rain head and side jets and I would’ve probably just moved in. I stayed here for a week total with 2 extensions because of work issues and the staff was so accommodating, service was amazing and I KNOW that I was a pain sometimes, they never made me feel like one. I stay in a lot of hotels while traveling for work and at this price point, as well as many above it, it was hands down the best I’ve ever experienced. Bravo to those involved in making this hotel what it is, I hope I return to Des Moines just for a chance to experience this place again.
