Awesome place!! Beautiful indoor pool, great outdoor pool, beach is just steps from both pools. And the room was HUGE - 2 queens, 1 sofa bed and 1 Murphy bed and a big frig. Everything you need for a beach vacation!! Everyone there was extremely friendly.

The indoor pool was good, it was heated. Outdoor pool was also good. The room was terrible, extremely out dated with noticeable water leak damage on the ceiling and walls. Smoke alarm was also old and barely hanging on the wall not sure if it was even working. Ice machine was not working and the ice cream machine wasn't either. The tv remote did not have a battery cover and was taped up. Did not see any employees other than check in and check out at the front desk. Also the indoor pool closes at 10:30 pm but it was 1:00 am and loud noises and screaming from people still in the pool, guess no employee was working at that time although there was CCTV by the pool area. Will not stay there again. Horrible mistake staying there despite all the negative reviews.

Hotel definitely looked a little warn, it wasn't too bad. Pretty much what i was expecting, there was red stains on the carpet not sure what they were. The room was oretty clean, apart from the red stains on the carpet. I was on the bottom floor, which i never really like as a solo traveller. Someone kept calling my room telephone between 3:40-4:00am i did not answer as i was staying on my own and this felt strange. Staff at reception were all veey friendly and helpful can't fault that at all

Check in was a joke. Apparently, they had gotten new computers and there was an old head that thought that everyone there should wait while she "learned" how to use the system. I was told on the phone that I was getting a room with a kitchenette but was far from it. They gave me room next door from the room they originally told me, someone told me wrong naturally. If I looked straight out from the rickety balcony with the rusty furniture on it, I could see the ocean. If I looked straight down, I could see the indoor pool and the people swimming in it because of the large holes in the roof. The next time that I go back to Daytona, I won't be staying at the Sun Viking Lodge.

Key cards had to be rekeyed three times each day we were. Management came banging on our door late at night telling us we were calling 911 from our room over and over. She was extremely rude and way too direct. When we explained we had just arrived and never use a room phone as we have fell phones she asked us to unplug the room phone. When I went to check out I mentioned it to the front desk and they told us our little child had been making the calls. Odd thing is…it was only my husband and I and no kids at all on this trip nor do I have little kids. Front desk didn’t want to hear it. There were other issues with cleanliness but nothing major.

Bed sheets had spots, very close to the main lobby door and it kept buzzing every time someone opened the door, which happened to be the front door clerk to go outside and smoke every 15 mins, on the hour. The lock to the door failed and it took about an hour for the maintenance guy to fix it.

Staff was quick and very nice at check in and check out. The property was very busy but there was still parking available and the hotel was relatively quiet for being as busy as it was. Rooms are a little dated but over all maintained well. Only issue we had was that the popcorn ceiling in the bathroom was starting to peel noticably and dropping on floor in bathroom. We had the kitchen room and all appliances worked. Coffee maker was unusable as it was filthy inside but we made due without it. The hotel gounds and common areas were kept nice as well. Still some minor storm repair going on but overall a nice place to stay with a nice staff. No issues encountered during our stay. Would definitely look into coming back.
