Definitely NOT going back

The place was a total catfish. When we arrived, there was food spilled all over the floor and someone was trying to get another person to leave their dog with them (a stranger). We stood at the counter for about 15+ minutes while this was happening and tried to stay out of the way. No one was at the front. After 15 mins we tried calling to see if the phone might alert someone, but it just rang and rang. After another 10 mins, and more "long term guests" arguing in the entryway, someone came from the room behind and it was apparent they were just sitting around trying to avoid the guests. They checked us in and we went up to our room. The room was pretty gross. Stains all over the carpeting and poorly layered paint everywhere. The door barely closed. The cable didn't work and when we tried to fix it the TV stopped working (kept giving errors). When we tried to just watch something on our laptop the internet had no connection or link. We tried to call the front desk for help and realized the phone in the room was disconnected. We sat on the bed for a minute and looked around and were so uncomfortable we just left and found another hotel at 10pm. No one was at the desk when we tried to leave so we just left the key at the front counter.

Great location and very affordable

Is a great place to stay. It’s a great location and it’s quiet. They have a nice pool and a hot tub and it’s right on the harbor so it’s so nice to walk there. It’s also within walking distance to downtown Dana Point and the restaurants and shops there. I was told that they were going to tear it down in September so now is the time to get a great deal on a hotel in that area

For the price, the Marina Inn was satisfactory, but definitely no-frills and somewhat rundown (though clean). The Dana Point Harbor is undergoing a full renovation and this property is among those that will eventually be torn down to make space for two new hotels. The staff was friendly and helpful, but not always available at the front desk. We had to switch rooms mid-stay due to the heater not working in our first room. The hotel offers a decent selection in the breakfast room. Parking is very convenient though costs $15 per day.

Great position across the road from harbour where quite a few restaurants were located. Hotel was old but very clean and well maintained. Receptionist was very friendly and helpful. All in all a great stay.

The location is the big selling point as the hotel itself was cold, there were no phones in the whole hotel that guests could use, the breakfast was all bread/oatmeal products and the cleanliness was below par. Upon arrival there was a ditey face cloth on the floor of the one elevator, and the next morning it was still there, even after a staff member helped to replace a broken desk chair, pushed it aside with her foot and kept going. With cold overnight temperatures and no central heat (or it wasn't turned on), the hallways felt like fridges. The bedding was two sheets and the thinnest blanket and even asking for a thicker blanket it wasn't sufficient bedding to avoid running the noisy heat all night. The staff knew this was the blankets were provided with ear plugs. If you're unlucky enough to face inland, there is no sun or warmth on that side of the building. But the location of the property itself was awesome. Not sure I could stay again in a winter month unless I packed bedding from home.
