The facility is outdated and in need of repairs and updating. Our ceiling fan worked at one speed and every day it became slower until one day it just didn't work. The rain came into the ceiling and closet area. The A/C did nothing to remove the humidity, I had to hang ALL of our clothes outside the day before packing to return as they were wet from the humidity. The food was subpar in the buffet, beef was unchewable, same choice every day and night. The Lasagna from the Italian specialty dining was cold upon serving, sent it back and the 4 people who chose it were trying to eat while the others were eating dessert. On the positive, Cerce the server on the beach and by the pool was superb, such a pleasant person and remembered everyone's drink of choice. (8 in our group as well as others on the beach) The drinks that were available were good, but lacking ingredients for some drinks that are readily available at other resorts. Julce and Erika at the spa were wonderful. The pools were nice, but one of the ladders in and out of the swimup bar pool was roped off the entire 10 days we were there, leaving one ladder in or out. There was a bit of a safety concern getting in and out. I'm surprised that the Barcelo" would not want to improve this resort as it is in a great location. My thoughts were 'lack of management, no one overseeing the dining areas and stepping into help the servers. They were all very dedicated and worked hard but were too busy to keep up some evenings.

The property was well maintained and the landscaping was beautiful (aside from a small area that appeared to have had buildings taken down as the foundations were still visible). It was easily walkable and there were always places to sit by the pool or on the beach. The staff and service were excellent. The only downside was the quality of food, lack of dinner reservation availability, and stiff beds. Otherwise it was a relaxing and enjoyable time.

The food was very underwhelming. Our group of 10 was disappointed. We could only get reservations at the restaurants one night out of 5 due to lack of space. 5 people in our group went home sick. We are not sure if it was the food or the water.

Pool had mold in it. Swim up bar poolvhad no steps to access pool do those wjo camt climb in and out of the side of the pool can not easily get to it. Buffet food supply limited. Bedroom unit walls were paper thin. You vould hear everything going on in your neighbors rooms. You need cash for an "environmental fee" for checking in to this hotel and all excursions.

The Asian restaurant was fantastic but the buffet was not good. The staff were very pleasant. The pools and beach are great! The only negative was the buffets. The buffet/snack bar for lunch was lacking as was the main buffet for supper. Breakfast buffet was fine. More fresh fruit and vegetables would be a good place to start. Overall we very much enjoyed the resort.

The grounds are pretty. The swim up pool bar and pool is very clean and big and good service at bar. Food was about normal for Mexico. I could always find something that I liked because they do have a lot of variety out. Beds were a little to firm for my liking but overall the room was average. Nice resort for the price!

Firstly, credit where credit is due, the property is very clean and the staff is constantly cleaning all areas of the resort. The restaurant staff members are all very pleasant but some of the premium bartenders and desk staff are mediocre at best. Unless you book a suite, the rooms are very small. Barely enough room to turn around in the bathroom. Plumbing issues in at least the 64 building, perhaps in others as well, causing disgusting sewer water backup into the shower and all over the bathroom floor. We reported this more than once and front desk sta were indifferent, no apology, no reimbursement of any kind. The buffet food is ok, pretty much what you'd expect at an all inclusive. You'll always find something palatable. The specialty hibachi restaurant is really good and entertaining. If you book premium level, you can get cooked to order omelets in the morning as well as a small selection of other breakfast foods in the Santa Rosa restaurant and eat breakfast near the pool/beach rather than at the main buffet. The beach is wonderful and the water is gorgeous but evidently there have been issues with crocodiles, yes CROCODILES in the swimming area. There was also a warning sign put up for jellyfish on our last day there, I'm not sure if that's a long term thing. There's really nothing the resort staff can do about either of those issues but it's definitely concerning. I traveled here with my family in 2024 as well and several of us had money stolen OUT OF THE ROOM SAFE!
