The property was beautiful and comfortable. Lots of nice art. The lobby bar and dining area was nice. The shower had standing water and bathroom had a mild sewage smell. The TV did was a direct TV and I prefer a smart TV...but it worked out because I watched a movie that I would not have seen otherwise. The gym was surprisingly underwhelming. The amenity book says they have a shuttle; however I learned it was not the hotel's shuttle but the University. Overall it was convenient, clean, and nice. I would definitely return.

The hotel is generally very nice, but we were disappointed with a few aspects of the service at our last stay. We were put in a room near the gym, which is open 24/7. We could hear people running on the treadmill late into the night, which was disruptive, and the hotel was unwilling to do anything about it or offer another room. It also took over an hour for them to send up sheets for the sofa bed when we first arrived (at night), which is not expected at a hotel in this price range.

This is the best hotel I've ever stayed at.

I've been to Chicago countless times, but my trip to Hyde Park was something special! I celebrated my birthday there, and staying at the Sophy Hotel was an amazing experience from start to finish. Jennika, the Guest Supervisor, was super helpful and made sure I was comfortable throughout my stay. She even recommended some awesome places to check out nearby! I can't thank her enough for all her tips; I found some of my favorite stores thanks to her. I also had lunch at the hotel bar, and oh my goodness, the food was absolutely fantastic! I’d rate it a solid 10 out of 10 for quality and service. And I have to mention the drink called the Sweater Weather—seriously, the bartender was incredible! I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
