The only down side was we lost hot water the second day. No matter what we did, it would not heat up. After talking to the front desk they did inform us that they have 24hr maintenance and quickly remendied the situation.

My husband and I stayed with our two sons for 6 nights. We arrived to a warm welcome and easy check-in. Jimmy our bellman was attentive and kind. Went above and beyond for us. Our housekeeper Joyce O was a ray of sunshine every morning! Our 8 year old loved to show her the insects he had caught the day before and her enthusiasm made him so happy. When we left Sunday morning, he rushed to give her a hug and we all joined in. What an asset she is to the 36 floor. Kudos to the housekeeping staff in the lobby for the safe return of our eldest son’s wallet on Saturday. Unfortunately, our experience with the restaurant staff during the week was non-plus. Upon our arrival on Monday afternoon, after traveling, my husband asked for an American coffee and was only offered an Americano. He was told to go to the Corner Bakery. The management team was more hospitable during the weekend. We look forward to our next visit and will be asking for a room on Joyce O’s floor.

I paid entirely too much for a suite that claimed it had city views rather than river views. The “city view” is the backside of the building and a view of a garage and 6 other buildings. The staff took almost a hour to get my car on departure! The biggest rip off I’ve ever had in a suite! Stay at Trump tower or any other facility or get the “river view”. of course all the others were booked but this will be my first and last stay there!

Kids and young adults were lined up outside Wacker drive at 1-2 a.m. doing doughnuts and hooting and hollering. My wife couldn’t sleep through all of the noise. There was no police presence what so ever. The shower also leaked all over the bathroom floor even when the glass shower door was closed.

I really enjoyed my stay at The Royal Sonesta Chicago Downtown. Great location and great staff. They ensured we had a good time and helped us with all requests. I would definitely consider coming back the next time in downtown Chicago.

I did not like that the shower in our room had a shower head that was not cleaned. There was actual pieces of hair stuck to the rainfall shower head. So the cleaning people had to be "cleaning" with a dirty cloth that already had hair on it. That was really unpleasant and limited is to just using the tub.
