I strongly disagree that there are additional mandatory amenities that are not covered by the prepaid price. I find that kind of behavior from a hotel in relationship to hotels.com fraudulent. You should know the costs when you book that’s the idea using hotels.com

I lived in Chicago many years and walked through the lobby hundreds of times and ate in their different restaurants through the years but never stayed there as a guest. It was time! All the staff I had interaction with were friendly, efficient and helpful. Checking was smooth. Christmas music was playing in the amazing lobby which was beautifully decorated for the season. The tv in my room was ready to use, the bed was extremely comfortable and the lighting was great which is important to me. My room was very quiet except for the sound of the elevated train which i quickly got used to. The bathroom was small but pretty and immaculate and had eveything I needed I didn't care about having a coffee maker in the room but I do think a complimentary coffee/tea bar close to the registration desk would be a good idea, especially during cold weather. There are two coffee shops in the building however. I was on a solo trip and needed to be close to Millennium Station for an early morning train home. The location was perfect and an easy walk away. There was live music in the lobby Friday night being enjoyed by many couples and groups of women on a holiday shopping weekend that all seemed to be having a great time. Next time I stay I want to arrive earlier and be able to stay later so I have more time to enjoy this beautiful, historic and clasdy hotel.

I stayed here somewhat by accident, having booked the room based on availability and location without looking into its details. We were stunned at the gorgeous designs, the efficient management, and the cleanliness. The room itself was small and the amenities left something to be desired, but overall it was a wonderful stay and I would certainly consider it in the future.
