The hotel was in a great location between the airport and Northwestern University however the air conditioning didn’t work causing the room to be unbearably hot, the tv didn't work and I just found I was charged for water that was supposed to be complementary for honors members. I asked for assistance with the room after the first night and though the staff were very friendly and indicated engineering would address the issues nothing changed.

It was decent for the price and there are plenty of stores in the area, if access to shopping is a sticking point for you. They have a nice restaurant in the hotel and some dining options within waking distance. A mall is less than a five minute drive away. It's right next to the theatre, which is why we stayed overnight at the DoubleTree.

The hotel is great and would come back and stay any time I'm in the area. The problem is with EXPEDIA because the hotel did not have the reservation that I had a paper copy of in my hand and made over a month earlier. EXPEDIA did not send it to the hotel so that was a pain in the butt getting that figured out and when they redid the reservation I had to pay more than what I had reserved. NOT impressed EXPEDIA but kudos to the Double Tree.

Really disappointed that the property didn't even offer free coffee in the lobby. Not having a breakfast as part of the cost was bad enough, but scrimping on the coffee just felt miserly.
