The suites building in Charleston has a unique history and vibe but the actual rooms are lacking. My boyfriend and I both had issues with trying to get comfortable on the couch and chairs provided. They also could add some modernized options for plugging in electronics. The staff was kind, I was just hoping for a better experience.

Excellent location!
The hotel is old but the location is perfect: one block away from King Street and one block away from the Charleston Visitor Center. The room carpet needs to be replaced.

My only complaint was the hotel restaurant dissappeared between our last visit 15 yrs ago and this time. We prefer eating in our hotel at night. That said, the morningbreakfast was awesome.

Beautiful historic building with so much potential to be something great. Sadly, it's very dirty, carpets are stained, walls have mold and tub would not drain even after we requested maintenance. Final straw was finding 3 live German cockroaches on our last night. Needless to say we checked out 2:30 am because the room was clearly infested. Disgusting!

Great location and very friendly staff! Breakfast was very good and we enjoyed the happy hour too! Wonderful park adjoining hotel that our dog loved walking in so it was absolutely perfect for us! Will definitely stay here again.

I did not get the room I requested, which was a Park View. I had about 6 to 8 inches of window that I would have to lean over just to see any kind of view. My room was also extremely cold and had to request an extra blanket on top of the one that was in the room. The breakfast was just okay.

I liked the location and being right next to a park in the city. Would have been nice to be able to see the park through our window but there was NO window! Great for sleeping in pitch black, I guess, not so good for knowing when to wake up. Fresh air is a good thing too. Not a room for the claustrophobic. I love that they made the old Citadel into a hotel but I don't think it's been updated since. It could use a refresh.

This was the most expensive rundown hotel I’ve ever stayed at. It looks as if it’s not been updated in 30 years. There’s black mold on the bathroom ceiling, smells of mildew, wallpaper is falling off the walls, carpet is old, stained and in some places worn through. Lines for breakfast were long, food that was available was cold and we had to wait for other food to be replenished. With taxes, fees and parking, we paid over $600 per night! Hilton should be ashamed.
