It was worth the money we paid... £35/night. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean.

Although room was clean some public areas need attention. Breakfast was excellent value for money. Was convenient for our needs for a one night stay over.

Problematic
Could not beat it for value for money however, the parking meter in the car park says pay before you go in . So we did but on entering you are told residents are free . The receptionist says they should put a notice up . But they don’t .. I paid twice for breakfast.. partly my fault. The receptionist could not do a refund . Was told I could wait for the manager tomorrow or redeem it in the dinning room if having dinner. We did go for dinner but there were only tall chairs and tables available which I could not use ( or anyone else as all the adequate table and chairs were being used) There was a full breakfast area free to sit at but we were told we couldn’t sit there the staff member wouldn’t be allowed to let us . We had to leave. I couldn’t get the refund in the morning when we left but the receptionist called the manager who said she could not do it today but she would call me tomorrow. She didn’t, when I called the hotel I was told oh she can’t do it today she won’t be back in till Tuesday. She might call you then .. It’s not the money I’m angry about it’s the lack of staff support and the missing managers that I find a disgrace. The parking is obviously an ongoing problem but putting a notice up or even on the web site is too difficult. The staff I spoke to were very nice but the lack of managers on site is obviously problematic. I will see what Tuesday brings for a refund but I am not hopeful. Please be aware of what you are paying for when booking..
The only reason to choose it is because it's cheap, but all we wanted was a bed for the night to break the journey from north of Scotland to South coast. Arrived at 9pm, left at 8:30am, straight after basic but perfectly adequate cooked breakfast.
Run down appearance, looks like it was the equivalent of a Travelodge that was decommissioned but still operating as a hotel. The morning receptionist was friendly and helpful. Parking free. Not somewhere to stay with children or as a treat in anyway, but if you just want very cheap accommodation to break a journey, it was fine.
The hotel staff failed to validate my car parking with the car park management company, resulting in me receiving a penalty charge.
I spoke with reception who took my details and assured me that the general manager would deal with it.
Two weeks later i received a final demand, so the GM had clearly failed to do so.
Multiple more calls were made, each time i was told that the GM had been emailed with a request to confirm he had contacted the parking company. I received no response.
The situation is still unresolved and i am being threatened with debt collectors and court action.
Before booking this hotel, ask yourself whether a cheap night's accommodation is worth so much stress.
Decent hotel, just a short walk from the main town center. Close to local bike routes too.
The room was okay, and was clean, but the bed mattress was a little old, and sunken.
I'm sure the people who have taken over this Hotel are trying their best to bring it back to the way it must have been when it was in its former glory days. The staff are very friendly and helpful under the cicumstances, the rooms large & comfortable with plenty hot water available. The rates are very good considering the proximity to the Lake District with good transport connections on the doorstep. Needless to say but I'll be back !
After reading the reviews for this hotel after having booked my heart sank. I thought I’d check it out since having paid for the night. Upon arrival I was greeted by the receptionist who was very nice. The hotel lobby looked outdated but clean and welcoming. Upon entering the room I was pleasantly surprised. All linen and towels were clean and crisp smelling of lovely fresh linen. The room was clean without any unpleasant odours. It’s a 3 star hotel. You take that for what it is. The only thing that was disappointing was the bath mat and shower curtain were discoloured but wasn’t the end of the world. The breakfast was lovely and hot with plenty of choice. I would definitely stay here again!
