Pleasant ,friendly hotel and staff, lovely room with good dining experience. Staff are helpful as my grandson dropped his blanket and it was placed into lost property which reception team rang to say they had found , after we checked out which was appreciated and prevented any upset that this could have caused thank you .

I'd definitely stay again.
This hotel is in a great city centre location so it's really handy for restaurants, bars and shopping. Staff were very friendly. There was a minor issue with my second room (for my friends). They arrived the day before me and when reception couldn't find their reservation they had to pay for the second night. When I arrived on day 2 this was quickly and professionally resolved and the refund was made. A good breakfast in the morning set us up for the day.

Faded grandeur, but some great staff!
Remembered the Crown & Mitre from over 40 years ago, but this was my first ever stay - and dog-friendly to boot. It’s a bit tired in places, but the room was comfortable, clean and decently equipped. I landed lucky with a car parking space on arrival, though to be honest, there are a number of reasonable public car parks only a short walk away. Bar prices were *very* reasonable - especially for a hotel ! The only drawback was a group of very sweary customers who spent some time in the bar, leading me and another gentleman to leave for public space elsewhere in the hotel. Of particular note were the cleaning staff I encountered in the annexe building - young, but very polite and friendly - and clearly good at their job!

The Crown and Mitre was Central, staff were friendly and services were convenient, I would happily use this hotel again. There was a genuine art deco feel, and yet facilities were modern. As it was in the centre of town everywhere was in easy walking distance, and there was quick access to Cumbrian beauty spots.

Really nice hotel, especially loved the staircase and the artwork. The only thing I would recommend for improvement would be to ditch the shower curtain for a screen - no-one wants a shower curtain sticking to them - but otherwise an excellent stay

This is a comfortable older hotel with good sized rooms and real windows. ti's also nice that they have big bathtubs! It's near most of what you want to see in Carlisle and convenient to the train station. The staff were a bit gruff, but they are generally accommodating.

The Crown and Mitre is a beautiful old hotel. The rooms are very spacious and it was very neat and clean, even providing robes and slippers. It is located close to all the attractions and main shopping areas. The reception staff were very helpful and the breakfast was great, would highly recommend a stay at this grand old hotel!

Long weekend.
King room was nice with a view over the town square. Room was clean but a bit tired. Bed was very comfortable. Stayed three nights and was very enjoyable. Staff were very pleasant. Swimming pool wasenjoyable also.

Very friendly staff . Hotel has been and was being extensively renovated and it showed . No tired old hotel . Back to its grand old self I would imagine. Excellent location . Very very clean . Only down side for me , parking was tight and the fire doors bang - but that’s seemingly every hotel in the uk !
