Surprisingly large hotel. Lovely helpful staff. Good breakfast. Right in the centre of Carlisle. Close to Cathedral. Parking was available for us but is somewhat limited so don’t rely on it. City centre was having a makeover so immediate surroundings were chaotic. Sound insulation in the room was poor.

Room 205 over the kitchen service area. Radio blaring and loud conversations from early morning. Bathroom was grimy with dirty grout and dirty round plug holes. Will not stay here again.

Booked for one night for a work night out. The building is lovely and ideally located near the city centre, though there are major construction works happening outside. The room was adequate, with a nice powerful shower, but there were signs of mould and it could use some updating. The staff, especially the night porter, were very helpful and made our stay more pleasant.

Great area and a nice looking historic building. Front desk was helpful and kind. It was clean and had some great amenities. Only negative is there is not a fridge in the room which wasn’t a big deal for us but it is something to be aware of!

We arrived for an overnight stay at the Crown and mitre on April 30/2025 . The first room we had ( 303 ) wasn’t at all to our liking or what we had expected it was old, tired and in need of some TLC . Thankfully to the Hotel Manager Ellie we moved to a room on the second floor . We were really delighted with our new room on it was evident that this room had been refurbished it also had the most beautiful and comfortable bed we had a great sleep . The Hotel has a fantastic indoor swimming pool and Sauna . We would definitely return the Crown and Mitre ( room on second floor ) as the location is perfect for all the local shops and amenities . Thank you once again to Ellie
