Would have been nice to have soap in the dispenser over the sink. Reception staff were great extra milk and t bags no problem. Maybe soap dispenser broken room 111. Worth checking for next guest

Staff friendly & helpful. Room clean & comfortable. Property a bit tired & could do with a bit of a spruce up. Good location & parking easy. Room surprisingly quiet considering location
Unfortunately, there was an issue with the shower in my allocated room. The receptionist immediately found me an alternative room and offered a sincere apology.

Inexpensive but showing its age
A rather worn old style hotel, that was good only because of the low price paid (£28 for a single room on a Thursday night). On the plus side, it felt “real“, not boring business like. And it had a certain sort of quaint charm. And, as I say, it was inexpensive. On the downside, it had a rather unpleasant smell of fried food in places (from the chippy next-door?) and some of the fixtures and fittings in the room and ensuite bathroom needed attention. But, the bed was comfortable and warm enough, so all in all I was very satisfied, at £28 per night for a single room.
I read the reviews and yes... It's in a very busy area so it's noisy at night.
Honestly in a busy city I'd be surprised if it wasn't.
We had a room on the first floor at the front of the hotel facing the club that everyone moans about being noisy (!) and yes, it's noisy. No shock there.
The road is busy. Again, no surprise.
The hotel is old and yes could do with some modernisation in places but in actual fact has everything you need and is excellent value for a city centre stay.
My one and only complaint, as mentioned in other reviews is the smell from the nail bars downstairs.
The room absolutely stinks of what I assume is acetone. Our clothes smell of it and it's actually surprising that they can run this kind of business under rooms where people are staying.
Creaky floors... Yeah. That too. We were a bit conscious of it until we realised the nail bar under us was closed so hey ho... Didn't matter to us.
Even the cackling from what I can only assume we're drunken cats in the room next door was funny rather than annoying.
Would we stay again. Yep. Certainly.
It's a lovely city, friendly staff, the hotel is incredibly convenient and other than the smell in the room which I guess the hotel can't really help... All good.
Oh breakfast was fine too. Again all the staff were friendly and helpful.
We got what we paid for, the room was very dated, the bathroom was very 1980s, shower had the old curtain with the 2 taps combo, very neglected!! Badly needs updated, good location although we probably wouldn't go back

The staff were all lovely and helpful, the hotel was central so parked the car n the hotel car park and didnt need to use it till I went home. The breakfast was fab and plenty of choice. The only downside was it was very tired inside, in need of a upgrade. I stayed there about 12 years ago and it hasnt changed just got more tired. The room I was in was ok for price but I could j
have stayed at many other of the hotels in the area but I would have to have parked my car elsewhere, so if you dont mind an old building in desperate need of work done its ok.
My stay at the county hotel Carlisle as always was great friendly reception clean warm room stayed here many times with my granddaughter and we have both enjoyed it the central location perfect
My stay at the county hotel Carlisle was very pleasant room was clean tidy warm the only problem was a loose toilet seat otherwise staff on reception was very pleasant and welcoming
