The hotel lobby was beautiful, the staff were impeccable.
We asked for an upgrade (with intention of paying), but where told our suite was the best the hotel had.
Sadly it didnt match the rest of the hotel or the staff.
The bed was saggy and uncomfortable it also had a pubic hair on the sheet, the shower had low pressure and tempermental temperature, the room decor was tired and in need of a refresh as where the corridors, the room was boiling and had no functioning aircon, but a cheap electric portable fan. We overlooked some nasty pipes in a yard, and the windows didnt open properly and any plug sockets where the other side of the room. A deluxe suite really wasn't what we had for the night.
Breakfast was honestly awful. Anything other than a bog standard filter coffee (cappucino) was £2.00 extra, the bacon was dry and tastless, but also somehow undercooked, the sausages anemic and the mushrooms (my favorite food) where literally inedible. The bananas looked like they had been there for a month.
The pictures gave an impression of grandeur, as does the foyer area of the hotel, but for the price it was very dissappointing indeed.
I feel bad that the staff where so lovely, as the hotel does them no justice. Even the housekeeper made a lovely effort to chat to us about our stay and was wonderfully friendly.
