Stayed here a few times, ideal location close to shops, restaurants, pubs, not too far from railway station, etc. Hardly any outside noise could be heard. Our room was facing the castle on a main road had no issues. The hotel is old and could do with a freshen up but everything was clean and staff were exceptional

Hotel lobby was beautiful however our room was lacking. Very tired indeed really could do with a makeover. Half the lights in the room didn't work and the toilet didn't flush very well. Couldn't shut the outside window was stuck open

Overall very good, with helpful and friendly staff
The stay was overall very good, a smooth check in, provided any information needed, the room was clean, windows were a bit awkward to open and close but not a major issue. Downsides being the water took a while to heat up in our room, not awful just have to be a little patient, and the mattress, was very soft, left us unsure on if it was damaged or not as It felt like it gave little support when laying down. However we were still able to sleep well

Good hotel . I would give it 10 out of 10, but I'll give it 9 out of 10 because with the renovation it will be even more beautiful. the price from Sunday to Monday was two times cheaper. Upon arrival, I was offered a room even larger than I ordered. Thank you

Great location and lovely breakfast. Hotel is quite dated in parts and the one lift is very slow. No one available to serve at the bar in the afternoon, despite a call being put out. Had a good rate for a city centre horel.

We got married in this hotel 20 years ago and thought it would be nice to stay there again with 2 other couples. Well I was totally shocked at how run down it was. The entered is ok and the lovely staircase - the staff were wonderful, but the hotel itself is in a terrible state. Wood rotting around door and window frames, paint peeled everywhere, the carpets filthy. Our friends room main window was a huge safety issue as the whole frame was rotten and the wind - we stayed through the storm, was blowing across the room badly. We reported it and asked for towels to pad out the huge gaps!! We had the same in our bathroom window, but not quite as bad. The noise from both inside and outside is terrible. We had 2 rooms at the back and it was a constant noise of hundreds of bottles being tipped into a large bin. Our other friends room had a peeling plastic headboard and a rotting bath panel as did our room. The plastic floors were filthy. My husband dropped his cap and when he picked it up it was covered in dust. The breakfast was lovely. The first morning was lovely and everything was there and plentiful. The second morning was a little busier, they were constantly running out of things, there were only 3 people working and being run ragged, then a guy who looked like a maintenance man stepped in and helped! Can’t fault the staff at all, but if this hotel was now 2* they’d be lucky. Certainly won’t be staying again . A real great shame for such a beautiful building.

The Angel hotel is well situated. Close to the Castle, shopping, The Principality stadium and plenty of restaurants all within walking distance. Overall the hotel is clean and tidy. There are steps leading up to the main front door and reception area, not suitable for those with walking difficulties. Only 1, very small, lift in operation to access all floors inside the building. Reception staff were average, housekeeping lady and maintenance man were very helpful and friendly. Room was spacious but cold. I booked a delux twin but what we were given was absolutely not this standard. The decor is dated, old and worn and needs refurbishing. Breakfast was good and perfectly adequate with a reasonable choice. The staff at breakfast were either idle and stood around chatting in pairs for everyone in the restaurant to hear or had disappeared and not available to check guests in causing a queue. When I booked, the hotel advertised parking however when I arrived some 10 months later the parking was no longer available but this was not, at anytime, communicated to me. Instead the Hotel advise to park at the nearest NCP, 100 yards away, at a cost of £30 per night! If you want to stay at this hotel make sure you research parking alternatives as the Hilton across the road offered public parking at £15 per night. The cost of this hotel was on a par with others in the area that offer much nicer facilities and better service. My advice, do your research and find an alternative hotel!
