I recently stayed at the Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun for a vacation, and unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations. The only notable positives were the beautiful beach access and the variety of food options available at the resort. The beachfront was scenic and relaxing, providing a nice spot to unwind. As for the food, while there was certainly a wide range to choose from, the taste and quality were underwhelming overall. The room was a major disappointment. Upon arrival, we found it uncomfortably hot and had to request a room change on the very first night. Even after relocating, the overall comfort was lacking. The beds were small, and the cleanliness of the room was not up to standard, which made it difficult to fully relax. Service from the staff was inconsistent. A few team members were friendly, but the majority seemed indifferent and not particularly welcoming, which affected the overall atmosphere of the stay. Given these issues, I would not recommend this hotel nor would I choose to stay here again. For the price and reputation, I expected a much more comfortable and pleasant experience.

Its a beautiful property that is well guarded and meticulously maintained . The maintenance staff works diligently. The foid however, was subpar. The breakfast buffet was the best meal of the day. All of the restaurants were just so so. The worst meal was in the steakhouse. We also participated at the Art studio, which we had done before. The art lady wasn't very friendly and made our time there not as much fun.

For the last 5 years I have been staying at RIU resorts. This is the second time in Cancun that I stay at the same resort- I was disappointed to see customer service has degraded. Upon check-in, Andy was passive aggressive when I asked about a king size bed instead of two full. She may have been having a bad day as it was already 4:30pm, but she was clearly not happy. My last visit there all staff were super friendly and attentive, this time they seemed bothered. I learned that a new RIU opened in Cancun and was encouraged to go check it out by one of the cleaning ladies, so I did only to be told by Hugo- door man that I could not enter the property because I was not staying there. Very disappointing to have the same line of hotel you are staying at to deny access to their new location. I just wanted to see the new place to consider it for my trip in August. Won’t be staying at RIU.

They charged 20 dollars for me getting a little make up on the sheets. Then proceeded to lock us out the room with out saying anything. The food was all basic from the restaurant and taste the same. Staff was rude. Staff came in the room multiple times while I was in bed with not proper clothing. They are money hungry and never give back change as well. It’s not as luxurious as they make it look. Outside food was much better and good quality
