we did not like our stay at all! very disappointed! we did a package from expidia air and tickets, i called before our trip to make sure we will have an early check and it was totally fine and all set! we get to the resort around 7:30am and they didn't give us the room key. that was very hard for my family with 2 kids! around 1pm they gave us a room facing the right side of the resort. the room was old and double bed were too small. i haven't seen a double bed in that side. matress not comfortable too. and the big issue we had was the noise of monkeys. we couldn't enjoy our view becuse of this garden and the noise that was coming from it. The worst thing was the RESTURANT! they had a lot of variety of food but nothing tasted good. 3 resturants had lobster in their menu but non of them wanted to give us lobster. on our last night we went to one of the resturant and they had actopus. i tried to order that and they said they don't have it. i got so mad and i start talking vary bad about the resort after 5 min they brought 2 plate of octopus to our table. and the server were like we could found it for you. the octopus was very cold and not eatable. I wantt to request a refund for the all inclusive.

My family and I have been visiting Riu Palace resorts for 11 years now. The level of quality has definitely decreased and is simply just another Riu resort. The complaints are: • No longer offer live entertainment in the evening (around 6:00) before the evening show. Prior visits had live entertainment in the “central plaza” plus a pianist in the lobby bar. On this visit, the pianist in lobby bar was the only live entertainment and inconsistent from night to night. • The show was moved to significantly later in the evening, from 8-ish to 9:30. Changing the time of the show prevents families from engaging with the resort. • Encouraged to attend parties at the neighboring Riu resort which is full of drunk college kids. If I’m paying a premium price for the resort, I expect to have entertainment at the premium resort. • RiuLand for kids was closed daily. In prior visits, RiuLand was open daily from 8 to 6-ish. • For lunch time, the buffet didn’t open until 12:30. In prior visits, they opened much earlier around 11-ish. • The VIP area, which is three stories high, didn’t have an elevator, so not really VIP. • No longer offer specialty drinks throughout the week served in coconuts or pineapples, bubble bath parties in the swimming pool, salsa dancing, or specialty-themed barbecues near the pool. • Trash scattered throughout the grounds and pool area. The servers wouldn’t take the time to pick up the trash as they passed by it. • Pool music inconsistent.

Pros: wonderful staff. Super friendly. We had three people and when the bellman came to our room, he noticed we only had two beds. He immediately arranged for us to get a third bed. The alcohol is top shelf. The buffet had fun theme nights. The grounds and pools were mainly well cared for. The restaurants do not take reservations so you always would have to wait for dinner. We didn’t mind this as much because we’d go to the main bar while waiting. They always had fun theme nights with the parties at the connected resort, but also with their own entertainment. Our room was always nicely cleaned when we were gone for the day. The service is wonderful. Cons: our room was not ready at check in or 3pm. Property is outdated. We had cracks in our flooring in the room, a clogged sink, and slow to drain faucet. The swim up bar was nice but the pool was disgusting. They cleaned it every morning but it does not have a good filter system for during the day. There are no bathrooms outside. One side of the beach is small and rocky. The other side is wonderful. The restaurants are VERY specific with unique menus which makes it challenging for picky eaters. The elevators are also slow and small. For a 17 floor resort, we did have to frequently wait for the elevators.

The properties is really nice. All the staff are really nice. They’re always trying to help you Rodrigo in the front desk was really helpful and nice. Also, Pascual and Carlos in the buffet were very nice I can’t wait to go back.
