May 8 to 15th 2025 - Just had an amazing week at the Finest by Excellence in Playa Mujeres ... very safe, resort is absolutely beautiful, super clean, grounds beach and water are amazing... if you love swimming in the ocean this is the place for you. Water and weather was fabulous all week ... Staff was amazing all around but ITZEL our wonderful beach server/friend was amazing. She was such a sweetheart...Nightly entertaining was great as well. We definitely give this resort a 10 out of 10 ... restaurants were all very good as well. Highly recommend staying here ...

Beautiful property. Plenty of dining options, service is exceptional. Travelled with a toddler. Felt safe as a family. Room was dated, but mostly comfortable. Several different pools around the property. All were easy to access except the main pool which was challenging/near impossible to get seats at unless you claimed some before 10am. Beach was beautiful. Entertainment was fun.

We recently stayed at this resort and had a mixed experience. There were definitely some highlights, but also a number of disappointments that made the stay fall short of expectations especially considering the price. The Good: The hotel is new, well-maintained, and visually appealing. Room service was excellent—staff came two to three times a day to clean and restock with fresh towels, which was a nice touch. Jorge at Dunas by the Beach stood out with his exceptional service—truly one of the best servers we encountered. The Kids Club staff were also fantastic, creating a safe and fun environment for our six year old, which gave us a chance to enjoy some kid-free time. The Not-So-Good: Unfortunately, this resort does not meet the standards of a true five-star property. The biggest letdown was the food shockingly bad for a resort of this caliber. We’re not picky eaters by any means, but the quality and taste were consistently poor. It felt as if there was little effort put into improving it, which was especially surprising since we’ve stayed at other Cancun resorts and had much better culinary experiences. Finest Resort, sadly, ranks the worst in this aspect. We give this resort 3.5 stars. While the cleanliness, staff service, and family-friendly amenities were commendable, the food and maintenance issues combined with the inconsistency of activities did not justify the cost of our stay.

There were a lot of issues with checkin and the room(s) that we were placed in. They were not able to guarantee our room by 3pm and it seems that we were not the only ones. When we got into our room there was a strong construction smell and fresh paint inside of the room which we found out when we touched a wall and got paint on us. They took over an hour to move us to the room next door. The room they moved us to was extremely loud at night because of the proximity to the live music. Only once we told them we were going to check out because we were unhappy did they offer us an upgraded room. We checked out one day early and almost 2 weeks later still have not received a refund and expedia has not received a response from the property. I would not recommend staying here to anyone based on this service.

There’s a restaurant called Duke’s Lobster&seefood in front of the pool. We waited there for over 30 minutes, but then were told we’d have to wait over an hour because there was a large group reservation. The frustrating part is that this place normally doesn’t take reservations, but the hotel apparently made one for that group — completely invalidating our wait. It felt really unfair, and honestly, I couldn’t help but feel like I was being discriminated against, maybe because I’m Asian. The whole experience left a very bad impression.”
