My wife and I stayed at the Thon Hotel in Brussels while attending a wedding, and unfortunately, we left feeling more exhausted than when we arrived, due to persistent disturbances from housekeeping.
Despite placing a “Do Not Disturb” sign on our door each morning, housekeeping knocked repeatedly and even called our room phone to ask if we wanted cleaning service. Then proceeded to bang their vacuum against our door. This happened every day of our stay, making it impossible for us to sleep in and rest up for the evening events we were attending.
On the fifth day, we stepped out of our room and politely asked housekeeping in the hallway for two fresh towels. The response was unexpectedly rude, we were told “no” because a €5 bar voucher had already been placed under our door. We explained that we didn’t want or use the vouchers, and after not taking no for an answer (we needed new towels), a second staff member reluctantly handed over towels.
This was not the level of hospitality we expected. We’ve stayed in many hotels and have never had to complain about service before, but this experience left us disappointed. Based on this, we don’t plan to return to the Thon Hotel.
Our room’s bathroom’s glass door was also broken and didn’t close. Room 32.
