Lovely hotel but…

Lovely hotel in great area of La Candelaria, walkable to Plaza and shops. All staff I encountered were wonderful. Room was clean, bed was comfortable however shower was lukewarm and low water pressure. That was enough to knock off 2 stars.

A truly wonderful hotel. The staff are exceptionally helpful, the old hotel is grand and beautiful with lots of space, the rooms are large and beautiful. The staff were extremely accommodating with holding baggage and allowing us to use public areas before a night flight. We couldn’t recommend more highly.

The beauty of the neighborhood and the hotel are obvious but the hotel facility itself is a bit faded and in need of some reinvestment. The staff was very kind but as English speakers we had more difficulty communicating than we did in Ecuador and reinforced the need for us to better learn Spanish. The breakfast was nice. Sound carries in the hotel and the walls are a little thin. I love history so it was fine for me. This is not a 5 star hotel by international standards in my opinion but it has a sense of place and history and style that allowed me to enjoy my stay.

Nice historic hotel, nothing fancy but friendly

This hotel is in a historic building across from the old Presidential home that is now the Foreign Ministry. It's a pretty classic building, a bit rambling with different passageways off a central pretty courtyard. The rooms are small and designed for 2 people only. We arrived with a 3rd kid for an adjoining room (couldn't do it online) and they charged us an extra person fee, which was fine. There is a complimentary breakfast with fresh omelettes, fresh fruit, juices and coffee. The hotel rooms have views of the back of the Cathedral and the central square just 2 blocks away. The concierge was particularly available on WhatsApp and arranged very nice drivers (Joselito and Harol) for airport and other transportation, such as out to the famous Andres Carne de Res restaurant on the outskirts an hour away, or to drop us at the Montserrat cable car about 10 mins away and pick up after.
