Lesson learned.

The location of the property is convenient and the place has potential, but the room has a bright spotlight that shone into the window all night, the blinds were difficult to operate, the toilet did not flush, there were water stains on the ceiling, there were no USB charging ports on the room like they said at the front desk, and the bed and linens need to be replaced. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep.

Huge disappointment not at all as advertised

Very poor service that began right at check in. Was told “We’re not sure if your room is ready yet.” It was an hour after the check in time I was told this.. the room was dirty and not what I had purchased months before. Scuff marks on walls, holes in walls, stained pillow cases. When politely bringing all of this to the front desk clerks attention, I was simply told the manager had gone home. I gave them the room key back and left. I’m now working with Hotels.com to hopefully get refunded. Do not stay at this hotel. It’s a letdown in hospitality.

Beautiful, Historic Hotel with Modern Updates

Beautiful hotel located just minutes from everything in Bloomington-Normal. The hotel is going through a remodel to no doubt upgrade rooms and some amenities but they are doing a fantastic job of keeping the original aesthetic that makes this hotel so charming. We stayed in one of the updated rooms and it was nice. While the hotel features remain unchanged (hopefully) the rooms are being updated for modern needs. No wall decor as of yet. Comfortable beds and pillows. No noticeable exterior noises from either the streets or other residents. The bathroom does not have an exhaust fan, which made them very steamy after showers. The general manager and both front desk staff I interacted with during my stay were examples of what hospitality should strive to be: extremely friendly, accommodating, and responsive. We are visiting Illinois Wesleyan as a possible college for one of my kids. If they decide to go there, the Chateau is where we will stay whenever we visit.

I work at night, I rest during the day, the noise in the corridor bothers me a bit. Riding the elevators is an unforgettable experience. The service is very nice. A nice facility, a bit from a previous era.

They’ve done a lot of renovations to the lobby. It’s looking pretty great! Elevators were fast. We did have to wait a bit for check in, but that’s to be expected. The pool was nice, and the kids enjoyed it.

Was great until there wasn't any water

Was really impressed with the vibe of the hotel. The room was clean, bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly and there were a lot of places within walking distance. HOWEVER, we did not have any water in our room the next morning. We called the front desk and they said they would send maintenance right up. After 45 minutes we had to leave - without showers.

The Chateau is a Bloomington Landmark. It was built, outside and inside, to resemble a French castle. We booked two adjoining rooms, and our request was honored. The desk staff was friendly. The lobby is large, with big round tables which encourages gathering as friends or family. The swimming pool is large for a hotel pool, We had a basic room, which was clean and spacious. However, there were no charging stations or alarm clock, things which are so common in most modern hotels. We will continue to stay here for our yearly Bloomington visits, as it is reasonably priced, has a great location, good breakfast, .and our grandkids enjoy the pool.

Property very unique. Older hotel staff friendly however rained and on 5 floor and leak in ceiling in hallway. Remodeling some areas, room no toilet paper holder. Had a deluxe king with sofa and 2 55 inch tvs. Room very big with refrigerator, 2 kitchen top burners and microwave. had vinyl wood flooring throughout. Friends king room smaller with carpet and loveseat but had fridge, microwave and 2 kitchen top burners
