I love the room size I loved having the sofa and also it was a pullout bed sofa. I love the cleanliness of the room altogether. It was a 10 out of 10 experience for me. They also do have a heated pool, which was another plus because I have kids and they love to be in the pool and it’s too cold to be in a cold pool, but it was a great stay and they have a warm made breakfast instead of grabbing breakfast

Light bulb missing in lamp. I thought it was unfortunate that the company who laid your flooring didn’t fill the holes or dips before before laying it. Several broken pieces. When a room has been vacant for a bit it should have a touch up cleaning. Socks were dirty from walking in the room. Also, we reserved for four people but towels were set up for two and even then we were short one wash cloth. We loved the size of the room.

While walking in you’re greeted at a nice clean lobby. As soon as you go up to the other floors, they reek of cigarette smoke and mold. The room was dirty. The toilet had mold, there was a bucket of water under the sink overflowing, and unknown black/brown substances on the walls. We left immediately. Still waiting for our refund.

On-line is great until you have a problem
Check-in seemed fine but at check out the morning clerk asked if I had paid cash. I said no I paid Hotels.com and she said the check-in was messed up but I was OK, there would be no further charges. While driving home I got a text from my card saying I had been charged an extra $82. I called the hotel when I got home and they said they could not help us and we should call hotels.com. Thank goodness I asked her for the number because it is IMPOSSIBLE to find a customer service number on hotels.com. They only have FAQ and other unhelpful info. They have no chat or other way to get help for a new problem not in the FAQ. I called the number I got from the hotel and 2 reps worked on the issue for 30 while I waited on hold. Finally they said credit would be issued from the hotel and it could take 3 days. Notice how charges go right through but credits don't? 30 hours later I am waiting for the credit to appear. I am not sure I will be using hotels.com because they hide the reps from you on their web site. If you have a problem you could be stuck with no human who cares at all.

The hotel itself is fine, and what you'd expect from a Hawthorn Extended Stay. But the area around it...geesh. Guards at the very substandard Love's Travel Stop, a closed Circle K nearby, a homeless man rambling and flailing at the light, and replaced the next morning by new homeless people...if you stay here it's to save money. Even then, I drove to the other side of I-74 for anything I needed. If prices in that area are anywhere comparable, go there.
