This is a basic / low budget hotel, friendly staff and good value. Shower sealant had some black mould, and the TV reception made it barely watchable. They hadn't switched the heating on yet so a wee bit chilly. Everything else very clean and comfortable.

I wasn't impressed with my overnight stay - my bathroom sink had no plug although the room was fine. Breakfast was disappointing. Tea served in a cup rather than being given a teapot; cereals only with no yogurts or fruit (even tinned); no mushrooms or black puddings and only fried eggs on offer (no scarmbled) - this was far from a 'full English'. I might have expected a bit more considering the price paid for my room.

The bathrooms out dated and need some attention, furniture dated, one of the rooms the water was brown when tried to run a bath so didnt have one, prices for food a little expensive. Breakfast missing things, like hash browns, and choice of eggs.

We stayed in the comfort room. The room was clean enough, but very, very tired. The mattress had a topper on that did not fit it properly so it had a ridge. The bathroom was in desperate need of replacing, and looked awful. The worst thing about the stay was the strong stench of cigarettes in the corridor which came in through the gap at the bottom of the door, we had to put a towel there to bridge the gap. This was particularly bad as I am allergic to nicotine. We had to try and sleep with the windows open, and it wasn't a particularly warm night. The breakfast was not good, didn't really eat any. The hotel was cheap, so we didn't expect much, I was still disappointed even with our low expectations. We have stayed in far far better, for a similar price this year. We would not stay here again.

Very dusty and needed a good clean in the room. TV is very small. 22 inch for that room isn’t the best for a deluxe. Service and food was fantastic. Rooms need updating though.

Till we meet again....
Really pleasant stay at the Old Stone Trough, a hotel which is handily situated on the A59 Colne Road, and which overlooks open country at the rear. The staff were unfailingly pleasant and obliging, and the dining room is clean and well kept. The food is of excellent quality, and the buffet breakfasts leave you fit to burst if you overindulge, as we did on a couple of mornings during our stay. Our room was pleasant and of generous proportions, the bed was firm but as other reviewers have said, the accommodation is tired and in need of refurbishment. It was also a disappointment to find that the water pressure was poor and the shower barely adequate. During our stay there was a spell of unseasonably cold weather, and the lack of heating left our windows streaming with condensation in the morning. Having said all the above, the positives far outweigh any negatives, and we would definitely stay at the Old Stone Trough again in the future. There are plenty of interesting places to visit within easy reach, and we've yet to do some of them. Most importantly of all, the room tariff for four nights' bed and breakfast was very reasonable indeed. So to the Old Stone Trough its "till we meet again" and not "goodbye".

My Niece had her wedding here and everything was perfect, we stayed over night too. The room and facilities were very good. Lovely breakfast. Stayed here before and will definitely stay again

Breakfast was a little disappointing, very basic and no further options. Room was newly renovated, but the bedding was tired. The room was also quite chilly, with no way off turning the heating on. Saying all that, it was pretty good value for money and I’d stay again!

Really enjoyed our stay, took my mum for the 3rd time because she loved it so much she didnt want to leave. She can go to her own room and i know she is safe. She sleeps really well to. Food potions are really good.

This place is good value and great location to get to places. I think at times the lack of attention to detail doesn’t help. I have two criticisms 1, the breakfast is basic 2, GB news is on the whole time during breakfast. Not a good luck with the bigotriy of farage and co in full flow. I would stay again, just get them to change channel

The stone Trough could have been a lovely country pub/hotel, however i paid for the next level up for our accommodation. Im not too sure what the other's were like as ours was very run down, dirty, broken toilet, the bath had the some the enamel chipped off, a shower that you had to run around it to get wet, the shower knob held on with a screw and wouldnt turn properly. No shower gel, soap provided. The gold sink taps were part green, brown with dirt and constantly dripped. Ouside our room it looked like a dog had fouled and not properly cleaned up. The breakfast was a full English although the eggs looked like they were made out of rubber, not too sure how long they had been there. A cup and coffee or tea was presented on arrival, the cups were stained and were chipped.
