The hotel staff are very friendly, the hotel and rooms are clean and well maintained. It’s the perfect location if you want to be close to everything on Main Street. I hoped there would be more of a view of Main Street from the rooftop hot tubs but it was still nice to have them. We didn’t eat at the restaurant in the hotel but it looked nice! There wasn’t a lot of noise from outside although we were there during the week. The rooms definitely let in sound from the hallway and we were unfortunately beside a maintenance room and in the morning we heard the door open and slam shut constantly from staff. But even with that, I will definitely stay here again! I will request a room not so close to staff areas and elevators however.

We stayed at this property and really loved the location. The rooms were very clean and tidy. The rooms felt oversized as well. The location is fantastic as this location is downtown Banff. Just walk out your hotel and there is shopping at dining right within a block. I would stay here again the next time I visited Banff. The only unfortunate part is that one of the two hot tubs was out of service.

Only reason I put 2 stars is the miscommunication or I don't know whose fault whether it's Expedia or Mount Royal Hotel about my charges. I have to pay full amount at check out wherein I paid a deposit when I did my booking. Then I realized looking at my credit card statement that they (hotel) charged me when I check-in already then charged me again at check out. I don't get it! so I'm in the process of it but I should not be having this issue on my holidays.

Overall the stay was okay. The parking is very limited and you do have to pay for it if you can find a spot. The staff was very welcoming. They do require a $200 deposit at time of check in. The lobby looks very nice and has a ski town feel to it. The elevator is unbearable slow though. We got to our room and it was as pictured. The beds were soooo comfortable. It was hard not to leave them. There were tons of carpet stains, not sure from what. I booked this place because of the hot tubs, except one was down and the other one was filthy. I was really disappointed as this was why I chose this hotel. The location was perfect, everything was within walking distance, the other hotels weren’t as close to shopping and food. I did like my stay but probably wouldn’t choose it again

Great location, difficult parking

Great location, friendly staff and clean rooms! Overall we enjoyed our stay. The only downfall was parking was very difficult to find each time we came back to the hotel. Had to park in public parking multiple times and move our car in the morning to avoid hourly fees. Just something to be aware of.

The Mount Royal is our go to spot in Banff! Rooms are great, hotel is clean and never too busy. Love the new renovations! We love the lounge area in the lobby and the rooftop spot as well with the hot tub. The restaurant is also great and has happy hour in the afternoon. We’ve stayed here a few times and our least comfortable stay was on Halloween night. There were lots of people out on Banff Ave and they were very loud, it made it hard to sleep. I know they couldn’t do anything about it, but I suggest if you plan to stay during a busy weekend where people will be out at night, to request a room that is not facing the strip.

Great Ski Trip Stay

Stayed one night for a ski trip, great hotel. The location is phenomenal, the beds are super comfy, and the room is very nice with great views. Only downside is one of the two small hot tubs was functional.

The property was pretty with good ammenities and a central location I just found the staff to be a little bit rude and dismissive. We were a younger group and I just felt as though because of our age we weren’t taken seriously. And that’s kind of dissapointing considering how much we paid. But it’s okay lesson learned there’s so many beautiful hotels in Banff. If you’re looking for a rooftop hot tub I’d reccomend the moxy banff over this place. The staff make the experience and this was a poor one because of that.

Hotel Review

The check in staff need a course in pleasantries. The room was laid out awkwardly. The TV was on the wall to the left of the bed leaving watching TV in bed impossible. It could be set up much better. Location of the hotel however is excellent.
