This was a great option for a cheaper alternative to staying in downtown Amsterdam. Amsterdam was very accessible by train and Zaandam was a very charming town to explore. The staff of the Zaan Hotel were great and welcoming. Our room was very comfortable, spacious, and clean.

The room was not clean. There were some crumbs on the floor. Outreach garbage wasn’t emptied for 2 days which is not good with food waste in there. The air conditioner didn’t work. The bed is uncomfortable and the pillows were so small even when you doubled it over they were terrible. There were noisy people outside throughout the night and early mornings. I would not stay in this hotel again. I stayed because of the good reviews but uncertain where those came from.

It’s a beautiful property with amazing staff. The criteria I look for when booking the hotel is cleanliness and this hotel performed way beyond what I had imagined. Such neat rooms, bathrooms, lobbies, I loved every minute of my stay.

Being across the train station was our highlight. Breakfast was spectacular. Service excellent. They were so nice to open breakfast half an hour earlier on Sunday. May better allow easy access to taxis dropping guests at the door of the hotel

Nice place to stay

The poperty took 1 nights payment from my account for the 2 rooms I booked a total of €275:16, 5 days prior to travel even though I booked free cancellation and pay on arrival , nowhere in the booking process was I made aware this money would be taken , I was in Amsterdam for 4 days and the "hold" money has still not been returned to my account so now they have had my money for 9 days , so beware of the"holding" fee when you book !!!

I enjoyed walking around the scenic town, and renting a bicycle from the hotel to cycle to nearby Zaanse Shans. The area around the hotel and station is a little run down and touristy, but being close to the train station was very convenient. The hotel is new and the staff is friendly and helpful.

desk staff very helpful. well stocked breakfast. hotel and accommodation very clean. fridge very welcome as I had medication to be stored in a fridge. In the bedroom a bit more detail on the instructions for the coffee maker as I didn't have one and took a while to find the switch on button and reconnecting the water tank
