Great staff and well maintained property. Walkable to all attractions. Was not sure whether we got a room at the back because we booked through Expedia… we had to walk a flight of stairs. For some people it might not be desirable.

I travelled with two children (7 & 10) we arrived late and our room was down a steep flight of stairs after the lift. I had a huge suitcase and was not warned of this - but I was told the colleague that helped with luggage was not available. I had to struggle with my enormous suitcase alone down the stairs with a slipped disc. The room was clean but billed as a generous room, it was not generous at all and overlooked an area where discarded items from the hotel were dumped behind a screen - so guests could not see it from downstairs but we certainly could! There was a mix up with restaurant bookings - we arrived to find no table, despite me being there when it was booked and no one seemed to know the deal with children’s breakfasts (usually in 5 star hotels they are reduced or half price, initially I was told they would be charged the same as and adult, but then told it would be free for them). We did the boat cruise but we were told it would only last 1.5 hours max when it lasts 2 so nearly missed our dinner. Against that it is a charming property in a good location and the concierge were generally helpful, it just needs to be a bit more refined and seamless and certainly they need to not leave guests struggling with bags. They did remove my breakfast charges from the room which went some way to improving things.

wonderful hotel and great service

Everything about the stay at the Pulitzer was amazing. From the checkin where they were able to get me a room early in the morning (In was traveling from NY on a red eye), to the 24 hour in room dining, to the wonderful spa, a clean gym and one of the best cocktail bars in Amsterdam, this hotel had everything. It is also very conveniently located to exploring Amsterdam and is my favorite part of town (Jordaan). What makes the hotel truly exceptional though is the staff: every single person I encountered was courteous, helpful and positive. The service here compares on par to the best 5 star hotels I have stayed at.
