I did not like the remote-control curtains - they were opened every morning by someone in another room! Also, the rooms have no air conditioning, so can get very warm. I did enjoy using the well-maintained spa facilities.

If you are looking for that different type of stay with quirky feelings and different vibes then this is the hotel for you The hotel is something out of the ordinary and has strong history behind it that makes it fascinating to stay in. The hotel staff were very nice and attentive to all guests especially when we had breakfast in the morning. The selection at breakfast was amazing with so many choices and the coffee was lovely. Again the staff couldn't do enough for you. I highly recommend getting an Uber from the airport with the price costing around 42 euro's, a normal taxi cost over 80 euro. If you are looking for something different then this hotel is ideal.

The property is not a 5 star in many ways - the lobby area, the staircases, etc. are dated, the gym had one of each equipment (treadmill, cross trainer, cycle, etc.) and the treadmill did not work, while all the equipments were dated. The location of the hotel is great - close to the Amsterdam Centraal station and convenient to explore all the attractions either by walking or public transport. The room / bathroom was good, but again fell short of the claimed 5 star standard. It is a good 4 star hotel at best!

The staff made my stay!!! I lost my swim kit and they found it quickly without a lot of drama. I would return to this property based on their excellent service-whether housekeeping, reception, the bar-they are wonderful. The property is unique and one of the great buildings in Amsterdam. The architecture was fantastic. And the location worked well for this first time visitor-easy access to train station and trams. Loved Amsterdam!!!! Will return soon. Thanks for a great visit!

I wish I had the option to give this 4.5 stars—the experience as better than 4 stars, but with just a few issues that prevent it from getting a top rating. Pros: The location is great. The building is truly an architectural masterpiece with beautiful designs and historical details every where you look. Our deluxe king room on the ground floor was bright and spacious with big windows overlooking the canal. The bar was lovely. The pool area and fitness center were well-appointed; we particularly enjoyed the saunas. The room had several nice amenities, including a mini-fridge with some complementary soft drinks. Each evening someone would come and put a postcard wishing us a good night on our bed, along with two individually-wrapped pieces of nougat. (It was a very nice gesture, though nougat is an acquired taste...) Cons: We went 3 days without hand soap, assuming it was a Dutch thing to use the body wash in the shower for handwashing. (A bar of soap quietly appeared on day 4.) The big issue was the room temperature. The weather outside was a beautiful 68ºF/20ºC, but our room would regularly reach about 80ºF/26ºC during the day, even with the drapes closed. The thermostat did nothing and the windows were sealed shut. I understand not wanting to power up the air conditioning when the weather is mild outside, but a little ventilation would have gone a long way to make the room temperature more comfortable. Thankfully, it cooled off a bit each night.

The hotel is lovely and good location but check in was late..we couldnt control the temperature in the room..there are many places where you cant avoid stairs and the mini bar has only coca cola and water. The staff is attentive

This Hotel is a proper Hotel with the highest staff standards, lovely warm comforting feeling. I do love the Amrâth hotel but they need to update the facilities. Stream room was not working and showers in the room were leaking all over the floor. Also the beds are very old and the mattress need changing

Great quirky hotel. Fantastic breakfast fot for a king. No faulting the Egg Benedict, best ever. Room had complementary bottles of drinks, water, cola etc. No bottle opener supplied ! We asked for one seceral times and once they came to the room with one but said we must give it straight back. No great! This was a huge service failure. I would stay again but ensure i take my own bottle opener.
