Loved the atmosphere and the hospitality of the staff. Would have liked to enjoy a meal there, but they didn’t have a chef, so we went elsewhere-Shorty’s-not much around the site. Otherwise, charming and fun!

Unique experience!
We made a last minute decision to shorten our driving distance and stop through Amsterdam (instead of Albany) almost purely because of this castle stay. When we arrived, the receptionist told us all about the history of the castle and the Kennedy room. In the morning, we had a lovely walk on the very close by Erie Canal hike & bike trail. This was a very unique stay and a wonderful story to share with our friends and family—we stayed at a castle in Amsterdam on our honeymoon!

Wow! What a fun place! Converted Historic National Guard Armory into a Castle. Wow! So much to see inside and out. Erie canal route and Pedestrian walkway over Mohawk (beautiful) in walking distance as well as local restaurants within walking and driving distance. (Guge's hot dogs has great breakfast sandwiches). Totally wonderful time!

Hidden Gem
This is a gem of a place. There is very limited service--no restaurant or bar, but the castle itself is beautiful and it has been restored perfectly. Our room was huge and the decor was great. The bed was very comfortable. I liked that the hotel provided some cereal bars, cookies and bottles of water--helps tide you over until you go out for breakfast. This was a great stay.

This was a great experience. Took a chance on it on a whim and was very happy with it. Never stayed in a castle before so it was a very unique experience. I loved that it had old charm to it but had all the modern conveniences you expect from a new hotel. I'll definitely stay here again if im in the area.
