Broken closet mirror, old and worn, dirty bathroom, old bed linens. Way overpriced!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The staff was friendly and professional. The Bentley Room food and cocktails were amazing. The lobby was stunning. My room was average. The bathroom electrical outlets did not work and there was no mirror anywhere else fir me to dry my hair or apply my makeup. The bed was comfortable and thevroom was clean, although the bathroom could use some updating. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again.
I liked the property. Very historical. However, there was no garage parking BUT the parking was free on the street and the parking lot across the street.
I love old hotels and some their quirkiness. But this one is just old and tired. When we checked in they did not direct to elevators, parking, coffee lounge, or work out space. We had to ask for everything. We asked if we needed to make reservations for dinner. It was Sunday. They said we did not need one……. The restaurant is closed on Sundays….
Really???
The lobby architecture was wonderful…but it looked dull and dingy, poor lighting.
The surrounding buildings with boarded up windows and graffiti was not comforting.
Wouldn’t stay again!
this place is old but well kept. it has a special elegance and style that you don't see every day. to get to stay here with all it's history is so neat.. to realize it was built in 1908 is amazing. words can't describe it. you need to see and stay at this place to realize what is right here in our state of louisiana
Check in time is 3PM. I arrived at 4PM and my room was not clean and there was no eta on when it would be done. I travelled from Dallas for a wedding and was instructed that my only option was to get dressed in the restroom. After the wedding I returned to the hotel (9:30PM) for a late check in. Overall my stay was fair but I won’t ever stay there again. Management has yet to return my call and it’s been well over a week.
The staff was not well trained. The room was not stocked with towels. The thermostat for the air conditioner was broken, you had to turn the A/C off and on manually when you wanted it to change. The hot water never really gets hot.
The best thing about the room was the Bible in the night stand.
First impression trying to check in- there was no where to park close to unload. We had to park on the street around the block, carry all our luggage, walk through people smoking and drinking alcohol on the sidewalk. Once we reached the entrance we had to climb up a flight of stairs to find the check in desk. The lobby is beautiful, but finding your room is a maze, no signs to help you know which hall to go down. The room smelled musty. The mini fridge wasn’t plugged in. They did have a coffee maker, but you can’t run the coffee maker and the mini fridge at the same time.
All in all, I enjoyed the historical aspects of the hotel, but would not stay here again. Just visit the lobby.
10:30 on a Friday night and there were people stumbling around drunk all around the property. Booking said free parking, but they do not have parking. When we arrived, I was told we could park in the public parking across the street, which is where all of the club patrons were parking or find a place on the street.
