Loved our stay at Mellow Moon Lodge!
This retro motel isn't what most roadside motels are like. The rooms have been refurbished and updated. The entire place had sort of a hipster mod feel. We stayed in a double Queen suite. Perfect amount of roominess for a family of 4 traveling with snow ski gear. Beds were comfy and clean. Bathroom was clean and roomy. Communication was top notch, always available by text to respond to a need. Service was great, always responsive when we needed something. Though not a full kitchen, we were still able to cook in our crockpot. Roomy kitchen countertop with small fridge, microwave, and some dishes/flatware. Even had a couple of board games and puzzles in our room. Del Norte is a great little town. Will definitely stay at this little roadside jewel again when we come to ski Wolf Creek.

At first sight Mellow Moon looks like a standard Motel but nothing could be further from the truth. Our room was really comfortable, spacious and stylishly decorated with everything we could ask for. The owner was very welcoming and gave us some great steers for eating out and sightseeing.Highly recommended.

Room for improvement
There is minimal privacy and security at this property. Anyone walking y can look in your window and the door doesn’t automatically lock behind you when you leave. There is also no main light, so the room is especially dark if you pull down the blinds for privacy. The sheets were falling apart at the hems. The towels and comforter were stained likely from washing colors and whites. I really wanted to like this place, but as a single woman traveling alone, I was uncomfortable.
