Great place to stay when you are at the Sand Dunes. We were in a RV with a beautiful deck built onto it with patio furniture facing the Sand dunes and Mountains. Our RV was clean had plenty of space, refrigerator, microwave, stove, shower, indoor plumbing everything. It was a very comfortable. We will definitely go back and stay here.

Very convenient hotel within minutes of the Great Sand Dunes. Only hotel close and very nice rooms with tons of space. Not many dining options nearby.

This is an old motel which has been renovated and the decor improved. Breakfast is grab and go which was adequate for our needs. Best thing about this place is it’s proximity to the National Park.

Simple & basic but after a day on the dunes the AC, Hot Shower, King size bed and Cable TV was a godsend. They are the only hotel room within 45 minutes drive so it’s not like they are competing for business with anyone. 5 min to the dunes. The only restaurant within 45 minutes drive is a minute away. While we were there they closed early due to a water problem and we were stuck with nothing short of an hour and a half round trip drive. Fortunately we had some leftover road food. They were open the next morning and it was fine. Diner grade. The lodge was fine in all regards. Consider bringing a towel. Their tiny, white, scratchy, bleached to death towels need an upgrade.

Staff were very friendly. Room was clean apart from the thousands of dead insects in the drawers, in the slider rails, corners and on the two insect strips hanging in the room. Room would benefit from a screen slider so people could open up the window at night without the entire deserts bugs coming in. (Dead were there when I arrived) pretty hard to swallow a $300 bill for one night with all the dead bugs in the room. Loved the hummingbirds

Views are breathtaking, especially sunset. Staff is so kind, helpful and professional. Room is “basic,” but clean and has everything you need. Beds are comfortable.

We absolutely love it here. The staff is excellent, and the rooms are perfect for the atmosphere. It’s great to be able to sit on the porch and look at the sand dunes and watch the sunset. It’s a great spot to get away for the summer

This was a good stay solely for the convenience to the national park. The check in staff were friendly. The a/c worked well. Coffee in the morning was nice. There was sand in one of the beds and long black hairs in the tub - both pretty yucky.

The facility is not a luxury hotel, but a friendly place very close to a spectacular National Park (5 mins). The view from the rooms is gorgeous, the Great Sand Dunes! Choosing a room, those with a porch (table and chairs under a roof) has less light, but good for breakfast and picnics. Fridge and microwave makes it utilitarian and the breakfast fair is similar to mid range hotels. Staff was very helpful and we saw families staying for several days to hike, etc. although initially skeptical my wife agreed, it was a nice place, quiet and So close to the Park. Easy to attend evening Ranger talks, interesting, and Dark Night viewing. Go for it.

Like so many others, we booked this for the proximity to the park. The beds were hard and the bathroom had a lot of flying bugs including mosquitoes. The view from the patio was amazing and I loved the hummingbird feeders. The restaurant close by was ok. About what you would expect. You just have to plan around the hours. We did take advantage of the location and drove into the park after the MOON had set. Since it’s a dark sky location we could see stars from horizon to horizon and the Milky Way. That alone made the price and inconvenience worth it. I wouldn’t want to stay more than 1 night though.

Only option next to Sand Dunes. Place is old, rustic but needs some cleaning - bugs stuck on towels etc. Breakfast is included but is very limited. Area is amazing, staff is helpful.

It was very convenient to the national park even though we really didn’t have much to do. We were not into sledding down the hills. We took pictures and stargazed a bit though, but not sure it was worth $280. There is a restaurant down the hill close by and Continental breakfast. You could even get a pizza and bake it in their oven.
